Why go

One island, two countries

St. Martin is a French territory and St. Maarten is Dutch, and you cross between them with no border check, just a sign.

The Dutch side is where you will find the big hotels, casinos and the main airport. The French side feels like France. Beaches on both sides are great, a little calmer and a little more crowded on the Dutch side.

Keeley’s tip

Bring more cash than you think. We ended up needing extra, mostly for tips.
